Match Preview v Cardiff Blues

Posted: 13th September 2019

With the summer coming to an end in glorious fashion, Bedford Blues have named their squad to take on Cardiff Blues at Goldington Road tomorrow afternoon.

Billed as the 'Battle of the Blues', Mike Rayer's charges will be taking on his hometown team in Bedford's final pre-season fixture ahead of the Championship Cup which kicks off against Ealing Trailfinders next weekend.

Saturday also sees the unveiling of Bedford's brand new home strip for the coming Championship campaign. Fans can head to the Club Shop to purchase theirs, along with a new range of leisurewear items.

Looking ahead to the game, Blues Forwards Coach Alex Rae said: “We had a really good run out against Cambridge three weeks ago but we know that Saturday’s game will be very different. Cardiff are a big, physical team who have a great pack and some lightning backs so we really will have to raise our game.

“The lads have prepared really well over the summer and everyone is looking forward to the encounter. It’s a great chance for everyone to show us what they are capable of and stake a claim for a jersey when the season kicks off in earnest next week.”
